Have edc17c41 bmw f10 with old ecu is dead, d.. and I buy a ecu with the same part number. i can read with ktag in gpt , try multiple times.. no luck. The next plan is to clone from the old to the new.
What to do:
If the old ECU is okay, with KTAG, do a full backup of the old ecu in GPT.
Then restore to the new one.
If the old ECU is dead, must read from CAS ISN and written in ecu ISN.
CAS 4 READ WIT HEXTAG.
or read eeprom from CAS, read flash and eeprom from ecu. and send to someone who can send it to you and will give you what you need to write in ecu.
If the car won’t start, and have error 276F00 electronic immobiliser pretection against tampering, no authentic response received. my car is manual, the donnor car is automatic.
— You need to decrypt cas for get proper isn – need read a key at least ( proper soft existing) or if U get some locksmith bmw equipment – make a decryption by key
It is coding (manual OR AUTOMATIC) issue.
Cas4 is crypted – password ISN from ECU(not available) or key – without This – no do anything – no sense.
If you have the key, that’s good, please use cgdi BMW or vvdi prog. You need to read ISN from CAS by CGDI by OBD ( look like it has to be supported) ( you got FUll BACKUP UR CAS, if no make it, Plus do it with ,at least, battery charger):
Put cas back to vehicle, connect power supply(charger) and press read ISN from cas(key inside of vehicle or inside of cgdi), ignition turned ON.
I did it for cas3+ and never did it for CAS4 but by CGDI, it is supported.
Disregard previous info – as I said – i never met CAS4 and Ur case – it is good -CAS not crypted.

as Change ISN in DME need physical connection for my equipment an i do not know checksum algo i made Vin Correction and ISN correction – BUT NEED TO CHECKSUM eeprom before writing.(Ktag – if support(automatic correction))
I have change ISN in Ur CAS – as U got full backup – U can write CAS4 eeprom to cas and try with ORI ECU eeprom file
If car start U need to programm ECU by ista – as U got manual tranny it is more easy about EGS ISN (not needed to reset)
and U need injector coding too.(numbers from top of it)
