Autel Announces NASTF SDRM Compliance Update for Key Programming Tools

As automotive cybersecurity threats evolve, the North American automotive aftermarket has embraced a new era of secure data governance. The NASTF Secure Data Release Model (SDRM) has now been established as a mandatory industry standard to protect vehicle anti-theft systems and ensure ethical repair practices.

Autel NASTF SDRM Compliance Update

In alignment with these regulatory upgrades, Autel is proud to announce the phased integration of NASTF SDRM validation protocols across its industry-leading immobilizer and key programming lineup in North America. This proactive measure ensures that our distributors and locksmith professionals operate in full legal compliance while mitigating vehicle theft risks.

Phased Rollout Schedule

To guarantee seamless business continuity for our users, the software adaptation will follow a structured timeline:

  1. Effective September 1, 2026 (Q3): Autel MaxiIM KM100 will initiate the mandatory SDRM validation process.
  2. Following Phases: The update will expand to cover all devices within MaxiIM IM508 and IM608 series.

Note: This security verification is strictly triggered by North American IP configurations.

Understanding NASTF SDRM Requirements & Costs

SDRM credentials belong to the individual technician/shop and are issued directly by the National Automotive Service Task Force (NASTF). Autel does not manage, collect, or profit from these fees. Credentials are valid for a 2-year term.
