Working with newer locked Bosch MDG1 ECUs can require an unlock step before their memories can be accessed. The latest Alientech KESS3 solution adds a dedicated KESS3 Unlock Module for this job, allowing supported ECUs to be unlocked in BOOT mode and then read, written, or backed up with KESS3.
What Has Changed?
The key feature is the new BOOT “Unlock” procedure.

Once the Unlock procedure is finished, the ECU memories become available for supported KESS V3 ECU Programmer operations.
That means a workshop can handle the following workflow:
Unlock the ECU → Access the memories → Read or write → Make a full backup → Program in BOOT mode
Where Can It Be Used?
The coverage focuses on diesel and petrol vehicles produced from 2021 onward.
The list includes 20 brands:

What Does a Workshop Need?
The new protocols are available to users who have KESS3 with CAR BENCH/BOOT activation and an active subscription.
The KESS3 Unlock Module is mandatory for the BOOT Unlock procedure. After unlocking, KESS V3 can be used for the supported memory operations.
