XTOOL A30M Review: Affordable OBD2 Bidirectional Tool

XTOOL A30M Diagnostic Tool is definitely the best value scanner for what it packs at this price point €165. The A30M is an all-system scanner, meaning it will scan every single module in the car. It supports 21 service functions, and it’s bidirectional. To top it off, it has lifetime free updates, meaning you won’t need to purchase a license at any point.

But is it a good car key programming tool?

I decided to try this out since hooking up the XTOOL A30M to my 2017 Accord. I noticed that under the immobilizer ECU, the option for key programming was available. However, I made multiple attempts trying to program keys to this car, but it just kept on failing. I also hooked the A30M to a Toyota, there wasn’t any support for key programming.

So that you don’t invest in the XTOOL A30M assuming your sole purpose is to use it for programming car keys. That said the A30M definitely remains a solid device and for me it’s a great option for a bi-directional scanner without the need for subscription fees. Especially if you’re on a budget.
